In light of the developing situation regarding COVID-19, we remain vigilant in monitoring the most up-to-date safety, infection control and cleaning protocols recommended by global experts, including the World Health Organization (WHO), the UK Chief Medical Officer, the Department of Health and Social Care and NHS specialists amongst others.

We are engaged with our safety and operations teams globally to ensure the appropriate information is shared and that the needs of customers and team members are met.

Prevention of COVID-19

There is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19, however, we all play a role in helping to prevent the spread of viruses. The WHO recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of any respiratory disease – be it COVID-19 or the flu – including:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are coughing or sneezing
  • Stay home when you are sick
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue away immediately
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty

Cleaning

With the exception of specific guidelines in certain settings such as healthcare facilities and airlines, experts recommend performing routine environmental cleaning, including:

  • Routinely clean all frequently touched surfaces in the workplace, such as desks, tables and door handles using the standard cleaning materials used
  • Routinely clean your phone and IT equipment using anti-bacterial and anti-static wipes that are marked safe for electronics
  • No additional disinfection beyond routine cleaning is recommended as necessary at this time
  • Provide disposable wipes so that commonly used surfaces (for example, handles, keyboards, remote controls, desks) can be wiped down before each use in busy or agile workspaces.

If this is outside your standard scope of work, please discuss it with your ABM team member responsible for the contract or contact us contact us.
